OK, I am not a tarot card expert....I'm not very confident about reading them, but have had some luck. Anyway, I am writing this to pass on the best advice I have ever gotten about tarot card reading: "Throw away the book. Tarot reading is from the heart. Spend time with your cards, get to know them. Inspect the art work and decide what it means to you. Meditate on and with your cards - preferably one at a time - to increase your identity with their meanings. Once you have identified your own meaning for each card, you can begin to read for others. Your cards know you and you know them and that is all you need - trust yourself and your instincts." Admittedly, I have yet to truly accomplish this, but hey baby steps.

Great advice! I've heard/read similar thoughts on Tarot:
"Hold onto one card everyday. Look at it. Carry it. Learn what it means by spending time with it it."
And after going through each card in such a manner, I'm sure it would help in remembering their meanings!

I agree. That is the way it is however with whatever you do. It all comes from the heart.

Just a note of interest, the tarot cards were originally made as a way to store estroterical knowledge from books of the bible which was being destroyed. Each one of the major arcana cards matches one of the letters of the original hebrew alphabet and also corrosponds to that letter in the Book of Psalms in the bible. Of paticular note should be how many of the major arcana cards represent women as having higher positions in spirituality and wisdom, while the bible has been stripped of any reference to women holding these powers or the priesthood. If you study the art of the ancient tarot for hidden symbolic meaning with that relationship in mind, you will not only discover a new meaning in the cards, but an entirely differant view of the hebrew prophets and christianity in it's original form.
