Let me start by apologizing for any of you who enjoy my little divination series......I know that it has been forever since i posted a new one. All I can say in my defense is that I have been spending all of my free time working on the message board that my friend Gypsy and I put together. If you like this series you'll probably enjoy the boards, and I'll provide a link at the bottom of this blog so you all can go check it out later if you want. Now on to business as usual.
Scrying mirrors. Scrying mirrors are somewhat similar to crystal balls, both you look into to try to see into the future for lack of a better phrase. I myself have never owned a crystal ball so I won't be covering them in this little series. (I only cover divination methods I know and use.....sorry).
Ok, so it is very possible to make your own scrying mirror, though as usual at the bottom of this I will provide a link where you can purchase one if you are so inclined. You have two options, you can either go buy a cheap mirror you don't mind painting over (if you are gonna do this I recomend finding a round one over a square) or if it is easier go out and get a picture frame, as they work just as well.......though it's harder to find round ones. Go to your local arts and crafts store and you'll most likely find what you need. You're gonna want to buy high gloss black spray paint, and if you are using a mirror instead of a picture frame you're gonna want to buy Clear acrylic spray, as it will protect the paint from rubbing off. You won't need this if you are using a picture frame, as you can paint the underside of the class so it will have it's own protection. Simply spray the paint onto the mirror covering completely and then let it dry for a full 12 hours, then spray a second coat onto it. Once that is completely dry you can spray the clear acrylic onto it if you opt to use that. Feel free to buy other paints and decorate the outer edges of the mirror or frame to ad some of your personality to it.....though this is in no way mandatory. Do what you prefer. Mirrors are associated with moon magick and so some folks will say that a true scrying mirror can only be made while the moon is full, or waxing, or waning, or whatever. Not true. The important thing really is your intent, and the effort you put into it. Especially if this is your first mirror. If, later on you become serious into scrying divination you may want to go look up when the best time to make your own is. The choice is yours, but I do these blogs for everyday beginners and so I'm going to leave out all of that. It will work fine whatever day you decide to make it. You may want to purchase a little stand while you're at the arts and crafts store as this will make life a lot easier for you.
Now once you get your mirror made (or purchased if you are so inclined) and have a little stand (or anything that will hold the mirror upright) you will need a candle. The whole process of scrying is so very simple to describe, though much harder to actually do. Set up the mirror on a table and place a lit candle in front of it. Now I don't know what others do but I place the candle a good couple of inches away from the mirror (especially as the mirror has paint on it which is flammable. lol) If you prefer some soft music in the background that's fine, otherwise you'll want a quiet place where you can conentrate. I recomend turning the lights off, or at least down. The darker the better. Sit down in front of the mirror, maybe about a foot away, and make sure you cannot see your reflection in the mirror.....if this means sitting off to the side, it's ok, whatever works. At first, focus on the reflection of the candle flame in the mirror, letting your mind and body relax. Take as long as you need to to do this, do not force yourself to try to relax, just let it slowly happen. The more you do this the easier it will be. With practice you can train your body to relax quickly, but for some this takes years of practice. When you are nice and relaxed let your eyes wander beyond the flame over the rest or the mirror itself. This is where practice will not help you, you either will see things, or devine, or you will not. Of course the more you work on it, the more you train your mind and body to relax, the higher your chances of "seeing" are. I have no idea what it is you might adventually see, and can offer no help in interpretting these things for you. I enjoy devination, and love learning about the different techniques, but am in no way an expert. The interpretations I leave to you. So good luck!!!
On a side note......another form of scrying like this is to get a black bowl (maybe you have an old clay bowl you wouldn't mind painting, maybe you just happened to stumble on a really neat looking black bowl somewhere) and fill it with water and use that for scrying. I cannot be anymore help on this one because I have never myself done it.....but this could be a cool one to set up outside on a nice warm full moon night and use the moon to guide your way. Maybe I'll try that. Night all.....

My next little lesson will be on.......not exactly sure yet. lol, sorry. You'll know when I get it up.
