Life and Death are stock parts of Neopagan existence. We view it all as an ongoing cycle rather than a permanent punishment or reward for good or bad behavior. When we die, say we go to the Summerlands or Heaven..... There, we do whatever it is that disincarnate souls do. Eventually, in the fullness of time or something similar, we are reborn again to this Material World.
Tell me, do you think we choose which life we are born into? knowing and seeing all its joys and sorrows before we are born into it, understanding what lessons we need to learn through being incarnate again? Or is it all just a shot in the dark?
To me, knowing and seeing implies we are cognisant of the evils that will befall us and we choose that path intentionally, that we knew the traumas and tragedies that would befall us before we ever decided to be reborn.
This is kind of a tough one for me. What are your thoughts on this? BB Gypsy

I believe we choose to experience two kinds of reincarnations. One is predestined, we know the trials and tribulations we will encounter, but choose to live that life to fulfill prophecy and destiny. The other is simply a learning journey, improving our knowledge collected through all previous lifetimes, and in the current one. As God stated in the bible, we can become like him, obviously to do so would require alot more knowledge than can be aquired in one lifetime.

I believe that our energy determines how we are reincarnated. if we spend our present incarnation basically as a good person and also spend it learning, then our energy is good and positive and as a discarnate "being" we are led toward a more satisfying re-incarnation. I also believe that if we spend our lives doing evil or just being lazy and not learning then our energy is either negative or neutral and we are led to less satisfying re-incarnations. I believe that we are here to hopefully learn and become better beings in each and every incarnation.

I agree with krystelynn when it comes to being placed here to learn something. I believe that we need to learn from our past mistakes...and don't repeat them.
However, I am a little shaken on the preordained destiny thing. I believe that we all have a destiny, but I also believe that we are granted free will so that we can make our own choices and create our own paths to follow. If we choose the path laid out for us then we wouldn't be learning anything new...we would just be doing as we thought we were told. If we lay out our own path then our spiritual self is learning something new at every turn.

Merry Meet All,
Old Topic but here goes...
I feel that we do know all of the things that will befall us. Well not every single detail ut major happenings that change our lives. We set these boobie traps so that we will not steer away from our current path and mission in life.
It helps us remember our spirituality. Then other than that you get other players such as Karma, everyone around you through cause and effect and for those of us that believe in it the Three Fold Law (or any of the sort).
Evils (while I know what you meant) is such a strong word. A more appropriate word is lesson or sign. These "evils" wouldn't befall us if we only stayed on the course of our pre meditated mission. It would be a more terrible thing to move away from our spirituality than the lessons we experience. That which doesnt kill us only makes us wiser. Wisdom that will help our spiritual growth. As my Favorite quote says: We are not human beings having a Spiritual experience. We are Spiritual beings having a Human experience. Galileo Galilei
So if I believe that I am a spiritual being having a human experience, then I must learn to balance both world but in the end remember the things that truly matter in our physical world. Ourselves and those around us. The experiences we have are simply lessons (harsh lessons at times) which affect us terribly at times but in the end we get more from.
I might come off as someone who tries to see the good in everything but im not. I can dwell on the darkest of things just as bad as the next person but eventually I balance my life, gain a deeper understanding of human emotions which allows me to connect with more of humanity, i grow wiser to know what to do and how to help others and draws me closer to God which is what spirituality is.
Blessings and a wonderful question Archer
