Merry Meet Members,
Earth-based power spells are a fairly stable lot. As with all spells, they should be used with great caution, but in general, can be worked safely. As with all spells, their effectiveness must be largely attributed to the will of the worker and the worker’s effective relationship to their surrounding environment. If the worker is weak, inexperienced or not attuned to their environment, the effectiveness or success of the spell will be equally diminished. We therefore admonish you to “get in touch” with your surroundings, practice your spells and learn to work them with confidence and resolve. Experienced practitioners should find these spells have a familiar “feel”, while those new to The Craft may be surprised to find many of the common fallacies of today missing. For instance, within these spells you will find an overwhelming preponderance of natural ingredients with such things as colored candles, commonly used and believed in today, not being used at all. In their place, beeswax candles are used, as these are closer to the initial intent of the writers of these spells. We encourage you to use these spells with the intent for which they were written, as a misuse of these spells could be disastrous.

Fresh Start For new beginnings. This spell is excellent for reinforcing new beginnings (for example: a new job, a new home, a new love, etc.) It's great for getting things off to a good start. You will need: - a small quantity of seeds (any seeds will do, flower, vegetable, fruit, etc) - a small garden spade for digging a small hole - a beeswax candle - a dried leaf from any plant - a coarsely ground eggshell - a piece of paper (notebook or typing paper is fine) - a short length of natural twine This spell is best when worked in the morning, at sunrise or shortly thereafter. Light your beeswax candle and place it on a flat surface, such as a table top. Lay the piece of paper on the table. Place the seeds, the leaf and the ground eggshell in the center of the paper. Speak these words aloud: Life and death, Start to end, New beginnings, be a friend, Bring good fortune, Now to me, For that which is and that to be. Fold the seeds, leaf and eggshell in the paper, forming a small packet. Tie the packet securely with the twine. Extinguish the candle. Find a quiet place in the yard or garden and with your garden spade, dig a small hole, roughly ten inches deep. Place the packet in the hole. Cover the packet with dirt and fill the hole. Do not remove the packet from the ground.

Mend A Broken Heart For the healing of a grieving heart. You will need: - a small ball of clay - a sheet of waxed paper - a small box - fresh red rose petals - a length of white ribbon Knead the clay gently until it is soft and pliable. Place the clay on the sheet of waxed paper and mold it into the shape of a heart. Next, gently lift the heart-shaped clay from the waxed paper and hold it in the palm of your left hand. Speak the following words aloud: From Mother Earth my heart was born, And to her bosom shall return, But pain has come, a pain thats new, And torn my poor heart in two. Having spoken the words, tear the clay heart in two pieces and lay them on the waxed paper. Next, speak these words aloud: May Mother Earth relieve my pain, And make my poor heart one again. Gently, lift the two pieces of your clay heart from the waxed paper and begin kneading them together in your hands. Once again, place the clay on the waxed paper and form the shape of a heart. When you have formed and shaped the new heart, fold it up into the waxed paper, wrapping it carefully, so as not to damage it. Place a few rose petals in the bottom of the box and lay your heart, wrapped in waxed paper, on top of the rose petals in the bottom of the box. Next, place the remaining rose petals on top of your heart. Close the box and tie it with the white ribbon. Hold the box in your right hand and speak aloud the following words: From Mother Earth my heart was born, And to her bosom shall return, My mended heart, my heart of clay, To her I offer on this day, May she keep it safe and warm, Away from evil, strife and harm. Place the box in a safe place, where it will remain undisturbed.

Three Leaves Spell A spell for restful sleep This spell is wonderful for keeping nightmares and night terrors at bay. This spell can be performed at any time of the year, day or night. You will need: - three green leaves - chrysanthemum oil - an empty nut shell (of any variety) - a small, smooth stone - a beeswax candle - a small, white fabric pouch (or a square of white fabric and a length of twine) Begin by gathering 3 leaves from any plant, bush or tree. Lay the leaves on a flat surface to form a triangle. In the center of the triangle of leaves, place a lighted candle. On one leaf, place a few drops of chrysanthemum oil, on another, the stone and on the last leaf, place the nutshell. Speak aloud the following words three times: Green leaves, gift from earth, Birth to death and death to birth, Keep all evil far away, Day to night and night to day, Peace and power hand in hand, In the night shall make their stand. When you have spoken the words three times, extinguish the candle and wrap the leaves, stone and nutshell in a white cloth bound with the twine or place them in a white pouch. Place the packet under your mattress or near your bed within three feet of your head for protection against nightmares and invasions of evil.

Disenchantment Spell A spell of deliverance and empowerment If you feel you have been the victim of an evil enchantment, this ritual is perfect to deliver you from the forces of the evil invasion and empower you against further attacks. This ritual takes approximately nine consecutive days. Begin on a Tuesday night, right before midnight. You will need: - three beeswax candles - incense (Frankincense works well) - a lump of red clay Mold the red clay into a small flat disc or bowl and place the incense in the center. Light the incense and wait until the smoke begins to rise. Next, light each candle and place them surrounding the incense, so as to form a triangle. O X O O Visualize the forces of the evil which disturb you. Call upon the spirits of the center Earth aloud by saying: Spirits of the center Earth, I call upon you, protective spirits, to help me--to defend me. Being without defense against this malevolent attack, I entreat you, combatants of the right causes, guardians of the defenseless, To rise up against this evil and malicious presence. Utilize your mighty force to destroy and cut down this evil. Purge it by your fire, to purify and clean this iniquity, That it may no longer wield its wicked influence. This I ask, in confidence that it shall be done, By your presence, By your will, As I ask, so let it be done! Extinguish the incense, or let it burn out. This should be repeated for nine consecutive nights so that the enchantment might be banished.
