i received an email some time ago from someone i can't remember, it was one of those chain mail things. either way it had a poem in it, i thought i would post it on here cos it touched me.
Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.
And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell.
And he rang mine but we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
"Tomorrow" I say! "I will call on Jim
Just to show that I'm thinking of him."
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner, yet miles away,
"Here's a telegram sir," "Jim died today."
And that's what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner, a vanished friend.
Remember to always say what you mean.
If you love someone, tell them.
Don't be afraid to express yourself.
Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you.
Because when you decide that it is the right time
it might be too late.
Seize the day. Never have regrets.
And most importantly, stay close to your friends
and family, for they have helped
make you the person that you are today.
i nearly lost the love of my life today in a car accident. some of you may be thinking i'm a drama queen, but it hit me that i could of lost him this afternoon. my fiance dave was hit by a car while he was on his motorbike to work. i thank the goddess that the only injury he sustained was a fractured wrist. this all happened between 4:30 and 5 am this morning. i was asleep. and i remember him walking into the bedroom with his biker gear on. i asked him what was up, was he taking the day off work, then he told me what had happened. he explained that an off duty traffic policeman stayed with him and kept him talking, and made sure he was ok. this kind soul deserves more than a simple thankyou from me. it puts your faith back in humanity to hear that a total stranger can do something so simple but make such a big difference. dave is not shaken by the experience, as far as i can tell, but i am. dave is my life and i don't know what i would do without him. he is the first person who has loved me with all my faults and their are quite a few. he has picked me up when i was down, helped me emotionally and financially. without him i am just another face in the crowd. i ask you all, if you read this and have someone in your life that you love, tell them. because you never know when it would be to late
so as an end to this post i send love and light to you all, because each and every one of you has helped me and thousands others in the world, keep on doing it, the path is long and rocky but you will always have people that can and will help you when you most need it.
