Salt is of cause famous in superstitions.
But how many of you have heard of the cause of bad luck that will fall up on anyone who spills salt. This can easy be put right by throwing a pinch of salt over the left shoulder,
OK Time for a Quick history lesson. Some authorities believe that the superstition may of come from the fact that Judas spilt salt during the last supper.
This ritual is familiar throughtout the hole world. But its origin is very obscure and was most likely to have started by the great ancients who regaurded it as a sacred and precious commodity. At that time it would of been very hard to get your hands on. So by throwing some grains over the shoulder one would be insuring against ones misfortune.
It is all so said that Evil spirits lurk on the left side. This being the case , This throwing over the left shoulder would leave the spirit blinded by the salt and help stop it doing it evil.

Ringing in the ears.
The earing of ringing in the ears, according to certain superstitions is said to be an omen that the Death of a person some where near. But in america particularly it is thought that the victim will live within the distance. that you can throw a stone.
In britain it is said that the sound of ringing indicates some one is talking about you. with praise if the ringing is in the right ear, or with annoyance if in the left ear
As goes the rhyme,
" left your mother " " right your lover "

Children still take great joy in superstitions.
When they lose a Tooth they still like to put it on the bed side and the fairy will come in the night and remove it , But leaveing a coin. Of course we know that the parents removed the Tooth But there are many people that believe that if the Tooth is not removed befor midnight that the child would draw the attention of Evil spirits and so would have bad luck.
