Okay, so this is my little "lesson" I was most looking forward to, because this is the fun one. For lack of a better name I am calling it parlor tricks, cause that's kind of what these next forms of divination are. They are for fun, they are easy to do, you need no training to use them, and if you are at a gathering they will keep everyone busy for a while. I know there are a lot of people, serious divination students, who will just discredit these fun forms of divination saying they are not serious and should not be taken so.....they are entertaining I say, and a good introduction to divination. I actually have no names for them so will just number them. So without further ado here they are........
1. All right, this one is a little hazardous and must be well supervised. It is very simple though. Take a candle and light it, let it burn for a little while. Get a nice big bowl of water, this is for safety. Get some paper and tear it into peices about 6 inches by 6 inches I don't recomend lined paper, and if you can find paper that's a little heavier (maybe art paper) this will go easier, if not computer paper should work. Close your eyes and meditate on the flame, let your mind slowly focus on a question you want to ask. When you are ready hold the paper over the flame, close enough so that the flame burns the paper, but not close enough so it catches on fire (if it does catch on fire you have the nice big bowl of water set up next to you already, just drop the paper in). Let the flame burn the paper long enough to leave a goodly size burn......this is where practice comes in, it's trial and error at the beginning. When it's done turn the paper over. The flame will leave burn marks on the paper, see what they form. You might see letters, faces, shapes, animals, the list goes on. The hard part is being able to interpret the images you see, connecting them with the question you have asked. Reading them is kind of like reading tea leaves, or interpretting dreams. There is no exact science and sometimes you just have to make guesses. If you are with a group of people and you just want to have some fun you don't even have to think of a question, just burn marks into the paper and see what you come up with. I know for a fact that this will keep a group of people entertained for a long time. One thing I recomend is saving the better slips of paper, I say better cause some will just look like black marks, and others the images will jump out at you.....put them away in a journal or something for later, they will be fun to stumble on after you have completely forgotten them.
2. This also involves a candle. However I recomend using a rather large candle, and one that you are not attatched to and don't mind if you might not get a lot of use out of. You will also need a bowl of water, though this time it is part of the excercise. Once again light the candle and let it burn for a while, letting the wax on the top get nice and hot. If you are alone do the meditation excercise from before, meditating on the flame and then letting your mind slowly drift to a question or problem. If you are with a group just having some fun feel free to skip the meditation and just see what comes up.....the meditation is really only important for clearing your mind so you can focus on your question or problem, and then maybe helping you interpret the answer. When the candle is good and hot (if you are with a group of people doing this I recomend using more than one candle so you don't have to wait as long between usage) tip it over the bowl of water, letting the wax fall into it. When the wax cools and is hardend pick it off the top of the water.....like the excercise before you will be interpretting the shapes you see, this time in the wax formation. This is why more than one candle is useful, cause you will have to wait for the candle to heat up and melt more wax between usages.
3. Okay, this is really really very simple and isn't so much for gatherings as for something to do when you eat an apple. This is an old little trick that young girls would mainly do, though it is for anyone. Next time you peel an apple try to peel the skin in long strips. Take a strip in your right hand, take three steps, then throw it over your left shoulder. When it lands try to make out a letter. If you see one that is the innitial of the person you are going to marry.
4. This next one is for anyone who would like to know how many children they are going to have. Take a pendulum, it can be store bought, or one more personal to you, a favorite crystal or rock attatched to a string so it hangs. Hold it still hanging above your hand. Focus on the question of future children. The pendulum will swing back and forth if you are supposed to have a boy, and in a circle if you are supposed to have a girl. And it will come to a stop between children, and then start to move again. So if you are supposed to have 3 children, two girls one boy for example, it will swing in a circle then stop, swing in a circle again then stop, then swing back and forth stopping completely.
5. You can also use pendulums to ask yes or no questions. Hold the pendulum up (I recomend over an outstretched hand as you would do if you were asking about your future children, holding the string between your thumb and forefinger) and focus on it for a moment, clearing your mind of all distractions. When you are ready ask it which direction means yes and which direction means no. When the directions are established go ahead and ask it some questions.
Ok, I think that's all the ones I know, though I could be forgetting some. If anyone knows of some good ones I missed please message me with them as I am always trying to learn new ones. Like I said, most of these provide a lot of entertainment if you are having a get together, though with the two fire ones you will have to keep very good watch over the situation, you do not want to accidentally burn your house down. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed them, and I hope they provide you with lots of entertainment. Until next time. Blessed Be ~Fallen~
My next little lesson will be about Scrying Mirrors.
