[glow=red,2,300]Candle Therapy
Using candles as therapy has been around for thousands of years, and has been practiced by nearly every religion. Candle therapy can be used to unite the powers of mind, body, and spirit. From ancient times to the present, Candles have lit our way through every transition! From celebrations and ceremonies to proclamations and processions! The candle's flame has always been a metaphor for the soul! It possesses a tranquil and almost hypnotic atmosphere to those who allow its power to take them to a very special place.
A candle acts as a "self object". A self object is an object that is a reflection of our self, a reflection upon which we can act. The candle reflects the spiritual and ethical changes we would like to bring about in ourselves. It burns as a reminder and symbol of our desires. Sometimes we have to hand our dreams over to a force more powerful than we are.
There are many ways to utilize the power of Candle Therapy. Complementary systems of color therapy, aromatherapy, music and sound therapy can and do overlap within the healing process to create a positive and powerful approach to finding the balanced system. These complementary systems with Candle Therapy, are all configured and intertwined within the practice of it's theory and application.
Candle Therapy and Meditation
Meditation can be enhanced with candles. By lighting a candle that is infused with color, botanicals or essential oil, these fundamental energies are released into the atmosphere and are absorbed by the individual within the area of the candle. The auric field absorbs this energy and it is taken into the body. The word "aura" is but another name for "forcefield" or "radiation." Every substance in the universe has a radiation or aura -- and the auras of minerals, plants and animals as well as human beings have special characteristics. Meditation can rejuvenate the auric field. •Certain studies strongly suggest that auric field intensity correlates to Chinese acupuncture locations. •The seven energies that dominate the aura of most people correspond with the seven chakras.• The human aura can be affected, indirectly, by meditation, scent, music and sounds. The aura can also be affected directly by the resonance of certain, select vibrations in tune with the seven energy centers of the aura—the chakras. • The colors of the aura provide a guide in understanding our emotions, consciousness, energy processes and centers. • Although not all people are aware of their aura-seeing ability, all of us sense auras through a combination of perceptions at the subconscious, instinctual level.
One of the most beneficial and powerful means of meditation healing is by arranging candles in geometric layouts around yourself or an individual. Geometric energy is applied in the arranging of the candles for specific types of healing. Different geometric shapes will alter and enhance the effects of color and scent. It involves understanding what particular geometric patterns can do by using that particular layout around an individual to heal. Meditating within the center of these configurations, can hieghten the entire experience! Here are some examples:
The Square:
Setting candles in the formation of a square stabilizes the entire physiological system. It grounds, calms and settles the basic life force around the color, scent or meditation being used.
The Triangle:
Setting candles in the formation of a triangle works as an amplifier. It increases the power of healing especially if the meditation is utilizing color, botanical or scented candles. It makes the meditation more cleansing.
The Cross:
Setting candles in the formation of a cross will assist in balancing the elements fire, air, water, earth in the individual allowing the benefits of the candle to work more effectively. It affects the heart center (chakra) and can be used with all problems associated with it. It balances our physical energy.
There are many ways to utilize the power of candles. Complementary systems of crystals, color therapy, aromatherapy, music and sound therapy can and do overlap within the healing process to create a positive and powerful approach to finding the balanced system.
Candle Therapy and Crystals (my favourite method)
The techniques of allowing candles to help in crystal work involve holding a selected crystal in your hand or hands or placing the stone on the floor or table near you and your mat and allow yourself to focus on the mineral as you meditate. In a meditative or yoga group circle, you may place the candles and crystals in the center of the group. Make sure that the intention of the entire group is that of the same intent.Crystals can allow one to reach higher spiritual levels during meditation. The crystal magnifies one's personal energy by aligning and connecting with universal power. The candle can center and align by concentrating on it's flame.
Candle Therapy and Aromatherapy
The complementary aspect of Aromatherapy only enhance the power of candles one step further. It is without a doubt a tried and true method in assisting in the healing process. Our sense of smell is the most direct path to our emotions.Once the Olfactory receptors identify an aroma, nerve cells relay this information directly to the Limbic system of the brain. Here, aromas can trigger memories and influence behavior. Additionally, the Limbic system works in conjunction with the pituitary gland and the Hypothalamus region of the brain to regulate the hormonal activities thus triggering the production of hormones that govern appetite, body temperature, insulin production, overall metabolism, stress levels, sex drive, and conscious thought and reactions. The Limbic system also influences immunity.
Essential oils are utilized in healing candles. By diffusing essential oils into the air, for example, Lavender essential oil (lavandula officinalis) the Olfactory receptors absorb this aroma and work in healing by lifting depression, calming nerves and lowering blood pressure. All through the power of scent.
Candle Therapy and Music (another fave!)
Candle therapy with music are a harmonious combination. Music or sound can be used to create a relaxing "meditative state" in order to transform the relaxation and meditation to another level or mental plane. It can be used in resonating a higher vibration and "tuning" you into a deeper, more meditative mind set. The complement of using candles, fully enhances the experience.
